Understanding And Working With Autism & ASD Within A Counselling/Therapeutic Setting (1 Day) - T0201u

Abstract

The aim of the course is to give a detailed analysis of the area of Autism and ASD and challenges to communication when supporting young people within a college environment. Staff will become familiar with areas specific to autism and communication issues when working with people with autism from a counselling and therapeutic perspective. Course participants will learn to utilise a variety of techniques throughout the training that are purely non-aversive in nature that will aim to aid the engagement process. Emphasis will be placed upon applying the training principles learned directly into your own working practice.
