Motivational Interviewing In Working With Young People Training (1 Day) - T0132zm

Abstract

To enable participants to explore issues relating to the concepts of motivational interviewing in working with young people. Course participants will be given thorough grounding in utilising this methodological framework within the workplace setting. The focus of the course will address issues pertinent to working with young people who are resistant to engagement. Participants will be given guidance in applying counselling skills in the context of motivational interviewing terms. Participants will also learn to recognise the difference between helping and therapeutic support, consequently to acknowledge when to refer to other agencies for help and assistance. Rollnick and Miller’s Model of intervention will be used throughout the training.
