Abstract

The aim of the course is to give course participants an advanced level of skill base in the application of motivational interviewing and solution focused practice. The course is aimed at practitioners whose role is one of a therapeutic inclination using brief interventions. A variety of applications will be addressed on the course with the focus being toward dual diagnosis clients. However, the course will also address the spectrum of mental health and be useful for clients who are extremely difficult to engage in services. As this is an advanced level course then there is an expectation that previous training pertaining to motivational interviewing and solution focused practice has been undertaken.
