Domestic Abuse: Managing The Impact For Foster Carers (Foster Carers Only) - 1 Day - T0157h

Abstract

The aim of this course is to raise awareness in the area of domestic abuse for foster carers and how this impacts upon the child and review how this can present within a foster care placement. The course will focus upon the effects specifically upon children and young people and how children function when they have lived within domestic abuse domains. Emphasis will be placed upon understanding the signs and symptoms of domestic abuse within ‘family’ environments and how best to manage this within a foster care environment. Foster carers will become familiar with how children and young people can be best supported within this traumatic arena, thus offsetting the likelihood of placement breakdown.
